The aim of this module is to develop skilled students able to explain and overcome any misconceptions about concepts in physics in relation to forces and to interpret basic engineering applications of mechanics in more detail.

The content of this module include Force vectors (Statics of Particles, Addition of planar forces, Adding forces by components, Forces and equilibrium in a plane, Adding forces in space, Forces and equilibrium in space), Moment of forces (Forces and moments, Moments of a force about an axis, Couples and Force-Couple Systems, Simplifying Systems of Forces), Equilibrium of rigid bodies, Analysis of plane trusses, Properties of areas (Moments of Inertia, Centers and Centroids) and Dynamics. The module has both theoretical and practical components divided into four units. In addition, some exercises were provided.
